Parokya ni Edgar is one of the artists in the country who can pull off a great parody. Of course, there’s Michael V., whom I can say is a parody genius. There’s Weird Al, a very good parody artist outside the country. There’s also Venetian Princess who parodizes Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga and so on.

As I’ve been playing Parokya ni Edgar songs on repeat since yesterday, Imma write about their parodized tracks. :))

Parody is also one of the most common themes in a post modern literature. A parody is anything that challenges what it imitates (and if you want to learn more about it, you can go click wikipedia. The information there is also reliable. It can help provide you with the basic information re:parody).

Radiohead’s Creep was parodized by Parokya ni Edgar. They titled it Trip. They also parodized Gloria Gaynor’s I Will Survive and they titled it Picha Pie. They also parodized Yano’s Banal na Aso,Santong Kabayo to Chikinini. And the list goes on, but I’ll just write about Trip and Picha Pie.

In Trip, love as a conventional theme is lost. Trip shifts the love theme to food, specifically siopao.

What “I Will Survive” esteems to be the most important ting—love—is contested by “Picha Pie”, which deems food as important. More practical and realistic when compared to I Will Surivive. Picha Pie seems to be comparing love to a box of pizza. Does this imply that the persona in Picha Pie finds love as cheap as a box of pizza? Hahahaha!!!
